Baby Weight

Today is my son’s 10th birthday and as you can probably imagine I am doing a lot of reminiscing.  10 years, wow, doesn’t time fly when you are having fun?   I remember when he was a really cute baby, I remember his first words, his first steps and his first day at school.  I also remember what effect pregnancy had on my body.  During the first 3-4 months of pregnancy I actually lost weight.  I was a bit concerned about this at first as people kept telling me they could see it in my face.  The only time in my life when I wanted to put on weight, I wanted a bump, I wanted people to tell me I looked pregnant and they told me I had lost weight!!!  My midwife wasn’t concerned at this stage though and  as my pregnancy progressed I actually put about about a stone on in total.  Once he was born I quickly lost this stone and more as I breast fed and ran around like a headless chicken most of the time.  By the time he was 4 months old I was absolutely delighted with the way I looked (and what I weighed), great boobs and a skinny waist.

Okay so now lets quickly fast forward 10 years to present day.  Today I am  3 stones heavier than my lightest post-pregnancy weight.  But what is more concerning is that I am actually 1 stone heavier than when I was just about to give birth!!!

I am in shock…but will it stop me having some birthday cake later?  Probably not.
